The centre section of the MX8E features the option to run either shorty or standard brick pack LiPo’s along with adjustable weight distribution by moving the battery.

The MX8E-25 is specified with:

 

  • High KPI front end (KPI1/Caster1) to give drivers the confidence to push the car.
  • Caster block has 3 holes for length (no insert)
  • Steering knuckles include the red spacer, which can be removed when using a front universal driveshaft.
  • Front and rear upper links for a forgiving car.
  • Soft arms for increased durability. This means the front uses the 98mm CVD dogbone.
  • Adjustable rear differential height, with a fixed (low position) front diff height, for added simplicity and durability.
  • Rear CVD driveshafts.
  • Black springs front and rear.
  • 2.3/2.5mm roll bars.
  • 5x1.5mm pistons front and rear.
  • Updated short rear shock stand off to eliminate shock cap bind.
  • Lightweight 1.0 body.
  • 48/14 gearbox gearing.
  • 48/15 main gear/pinion gearing.

 

DESIGN

STABLE, SIMPLE & EASY

The MX8E was designed to be stable, simple and easy.

Each component is located where it is for a reason, with room to flex, room for cooling air, and space to inspect, work on and clean each area of the car.

The electronics can be removed from either above or below, or a combination depending on your preference.

The electronics can be removed easily, with the ESC being placed on a carbon plate for easy removal.

The layout works with shorty, fullsize, 2x2S or 4S packs and has multiple possible locations for adjusting the weight distribution.

If you question the width and shape of the chassis now, you won’t after you have taken a lap with the Mayako on a tough fast track due to the increased stability.

 

 

 

FRONT SUSPENSION

BETTER GENERAL HANDLING

The MX8 comes with the more stable KPI-1, for your typical Pillow Ball front end feel.

There are optional KPI-.5 hubs and knuckles available for more aggressive steering response, more like a typical C-hub car feel.

Not only that, you can also adjust knuckle height, upper link/arm length, and steering link position, thanks to the red eccentric bushing in the carbon steering plate, which you can also replace with an optional one, of course.

You need to be able to adjust all the relevant adjustments when looking for the last 10ths of a second, regardless of which overall feel you prefer.

 

 

 

ELECTRONICS LAYOUT

RIGIDITY & SIMPLICITY

The MX8E has a conventional electronics layout that was already used back in our designers early days with JQ Racing over a decade ago.

This proven layout works well in all conditions, with all battery types.

The centre diff mount has been improved upon from those early days, with a split design making the removal of the diff easy.

The upper chassis braces are strong along with an updated “Taylor Design” horisontal mounting system, thanks to feedback from our MPC Members, who found durability issues with the original prototype.

 

 

 

ELECTRONICS ASSEMBLY

ESC FLOATING MOUNTING PLATE

The ESC is mounted on a carbon plate, using double sided tape, and the plate is secured to the chassis with 4 bushings, that use shock o-rings for damping.

This helps to protect the ESC from vibration and hard hits, as well as making it a lot easier to remove the ESC and motor from the car.

 

 

 

REAR SUSPENSION

DURABILITY & ADJUSTABILITY

The rear suspension is highly adjustable, with diff height, arm height, upper link height, wing height and shock positions all being adjustable.

The car uses screw type hinge pins, which sandwich the arms and arm holders with a M4 Screw and nut, helping to strengthen the suspension.

This also makes working on the car a lot easier, as you can remove the arm by simply removing the hinge pin, or you can remove the diff, or entire gearbox, while keeping the arms and holder intact.

 

 

 

BUMP STEER

POWERFUL TUNING AID

Bump steer is a powerful tuning aid, specially when running the KPI-1 hubs.

It can be adjusted at both inner and outer ends of the steering link, turning around the eccentric ball, or adding/removing shims.

Adding just a 1mm shim can increase steering mid to exit of corners significantly.

 

 

 

SHOCKS

BLADDERS OR EMULSION

The shocks on the MX8E are hard coated, with silky smooth operation, and come standard with an emulsion gasket and bleeder screw in the cap.

Bladders can be fitted in the caps if preferred, but we recommend the emulsion setting for every condition.

 

 

 

DRIVETRAIN OPTIONS

CVD REAR DRIVE SHAFTS

The MX8E comes standard with rear CVD drive shafts which make the suspension plush, perfect for difficult conditions.

There are optional universal shafts, which offer a difference in handling, with more initial grip, and

The further out you move the joint, as with the stock CVDs, the softer the suspension, the more overall grip, and better the bump handling.

The further in the joint is, as with the universals, the more support they offer, more initial grip, and the more responsive the car will be.
